There is a whole world of people whose opinions matter. They shape and influence our lives. Their opnions are sought as a reponse to current events and their thoughts on public policy shape the nation. Are they smarter than the rest of us? Are they more educated? Or do they simply have more influence?

There is a world of bloggers online. Some of them influence the world around us. But all of them are participating. I want to start participating in those conversations. And this blog... OuttaMyShell is going to be where I start. Will I be able to string two words together? Do I have any opnions worth listening to? Is there a place for me in public discourse? We shall find out. But there is one thing I know for sure... I have a lot of learning to do.

Seminary Kickoff Meeting

Today I attended my first Seminary Kick-off meeting. As a convert to the church, I didn't have the pleasure of attending early-morning Seminary. And I've got to admit I'm a bit nervous about the scheduling. Actually, I'm more than a bit nervous. Knowing the schedules and rythms in our house, I know it's going to take divine intervention for us to get through this year. But TheKid is excited about it. And I've got to admit, it seems like it's going to be a wonderful experience. But how will we survive getting up at 5am every school day? For that we will have to see.
